Upon arrival at the airport, our representative will accompany you to complete the visa application process, which takes no more than 10/15 minutes. Once completed, you will be transferred in an exclusive vehicle to the hotel where you will have enough time to rest, take a nice shower and enjoy an exquisite dinner (not included). The hotel's menu is international.
Breakfast at the hotel in Cairo. Then pick up and transfer to the Giza plateau to visit one of the seven wonders of the ancient world (the great pyramid of Cheops), the visit includes the other Pyramids of Giza (Khafre and Mycerinus), the famous Sphinx and the Valley Temple, built next to the Pyramid of Chephren. Then continue optionally (recommended) $ 70 dollars with a lunch and visit the Necropolis of Saqqara, a complex that UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site. Here the funerary complex of King Zoser and his step pyramid stand out. The latter is the first stone construction erected in the world and symbolizes the evolution of pyramid construction. In addition, you can visit (if time permits) a mastaba, which is the tomb dedicated to the nobles. Also, returning from Saqqara, we will visit the city of Memphis, which was the first capital of Egypt during the Ancient Memphis Kingdom, established by King Menes, where you can see the giant statue of Ramses II. Return to the hotel and overnight in Cairo.
Breakfast at the hotel in Cairo. Visit to the Egyptian Museum, which contains, in addition to 100,000 objects, the treasure room of the young king Tutankhamun, along with many other fascinating antiquities.
If you want to take an optional excursion of 65 dollars, you will be given the opportunity to visit the Coptic Quarter, an area of the city characterized by being a melting pot of religions throughout history, where Christians, Jews and Muslims have coexisted. Among its monuments are the Hanging Church, built on the Fortress of Babylon; the Church of St. Sergius, where it is believed that the Holy Family went into exile when they fled from Herod; and the Ben Ezra Synagogue, one of the oldest in the country, dating back to the 7th century.
This optional excursion also includes the Citadel of Saladin area, a fortress where the imposing mosque of Mohamed Ali stands out, which we will visit inside as well as several museums and gardens hidden within its walls.
Today we will head to the famous National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The Museum of Egyptian Civilization was opened in 2017 and, since then, has been enriching its collection with contributions from other museums, such as the famous arrival of the Pharaonic mummies.
The building houses a collection that covers all phases of the history of this people. That is, it begins precisely at the dawn of this civilization, in the so-called predynastic and archaic era, up to the recent contemporary period. Therefore, it is not only possible to find pieces and objects from the Pharaonic era, but also from other important historical phases, such as the Roman, Coptic and Arab, from the Middle Ages to the present day.
The most attractive rooms are undoubtedly those dedicated to the royal mummies that paraded through Cairo in April 2021. This is the case of the kings Seqenenra Taa (17th Dynasty), Ahmose I (18th Dynasty) or Ramses II (19th Dynasty), as well as the queen-pharaoh Hatshepsut and other monarchs such as Ahmose-Nefertari and Tiye.
In the afternoon, after lunch, we will go to Fatimid Cairo, which UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site. This area was founded in the 10th century as a royal enclosure for the Fatimid caliphs, so it is full of mosques and other Islamic buildings of great historical importance. There you can stroll through the picturesque Khan el Khalili bazaar (don't forget to visit the Café el Fishawi and have a delicious mint tea with an exquisite Falafel), an old 14th century trading area where today you can buy all kinds of souvenirs, without forgetting the traditional haggling. Later we return to the hotel. Night in Cairo.
Once in Aswan we will visit the Unfinished Obelisk, famous for its red granite. The most famous thing about this obelisk is that it is named after Queen Hatshepsut, one of the kings who ruled Egypt in the 18th dynasty, wife of King Tuthmosis II. Others believe that this obelisk is named after Queen Nefertiti.
Optionally (cost 55 dollars) we will take a trip to a Nubian Village to see the picturesque life of the native Nubians, their customs and crafts. From the boat we will take a camel ride. Return to the cruise ship. We will dine like gods or pharaohs and spend the night on board.
Optional tour to Abu Simbel Temple, which was originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in about the 13th century BC, as a lasting monument to himself and his queen Nefertari. This mountain was cut into over 5,000 parts and the temples moved 65m up and 4º back when the Aswan High Dam was built, and therefore the entire valley where we can now enjoy the waters of the world's second largest man-made lake "Lake Nasser" (named after General Nasser, President of Egypt at the time) had to be flooded. It is worth noting that many newlyweds take multi-day cruises on this lake. Cost: 125 dollars
On this 6th day we begin our wonderful adventure sailing and enjoying the Nile in all its splendor.
Breakfast on board. Sailing to Kom Ombo. Visit to the Temple of Sobek, an unusual building, completely symmetrical, with two entrances, two hypostyle halls and two sanctuaries. This is because it is dedicated to two gods: the left side to the falcon god Haroeris (Horus the old or the great) and the right to Sobek (local deity with a crocodile head).
Then we will sail to Edfu. Lunch on board. Transfer by carriage to visit the Temple of Horus, dedicated to Horus, one of the best preserved temples in Egypt and was called Mesen, “The place of the harpoon”, “The House of Ra”. Sailing to Luxor. Dinner and overnight on board. If we have time we will visit the Crocodile Museum.
The museum displays 22 mummified crocodiles of various sizes, forty of which have been unearthed in the area. The crocodiles are arranged on a sand hill inside a large glass display case, allowing visitors to see how crocodiles spent their days in ancient Egypt.
Sobek is the ancient Egyptian god of strength and power. Some myths involve Sobek as the creator of the world, and the ancient Egyptians revered him as far back as the Old Kingdom. He gained celebrity status during the Middle Kingdom when King Amenemhat III took a special interest in the crocodile God. This 12th dynasty king gave Sobek a makeover when he merged his likeness with Horus.
The people of ancient Egypt worshipped crocodiles while loving and fearing them. They were a symbol of power, virility, and fertility. As the crocodile god, Sobek protected the Egyptian army, the Pharaohs, and the ancient Egyptian people. His strength and courage allowed the Pharaoh to overcome obstacles and also protected him from evil magic. Sobek first appeared in the Old Kingdom and is depicted as either a full crocodile or a human with a crocodile head. The ancient Egyptians kept crocodiles in pools and temples, fed them delicacies, and made jewelry out of them. Mummified crocodiles of all ages have been found in tombs, including eggs with fetuses.
Breakfast on board. Visit to the Valley of the Kings. During the New Kingdom, this was the place where the pharaohs were buried in hypogea. The kings of the 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties were buried here, as well as some queens, princes, nobles and even animals. We also visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, the unique temple of Queen Hatshepsut (18th dynasty), the most monumental of those built in the valley and the only one of its kind in all of Egypt. Visit to the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch on board. Afternoon tea. Dinner and overnight on board.
Colossi of Memnon
The Colossi of Memnon are two gigantic statues of Amenophis III that presided over his mortuary temple on the west bank of the Nile in Luxor. The statues, built 3,400 years ago, show the pharaoh calmly, with his hands on his knees, looking at the rising sun. On the lower part of the statue are sculpted figures of his mother, Queen Mutemwiya, and his wife, Queen Tiy.
Breakfast and disembarkation. Visit to the Luxor Temple, which was built during the New Kingdom. We will also visit the Karnak Temple, which is connected to the Luxor Temple by an avenue (dromos) flanked by sphinxes. It was built by two pharaohs in particular, Amenhotep III (who built the inner area) and Ramses II (who completed the temple). Visit to the Karnak Temple, which was the most influential religious centre in ancient Egypt, especially during the New Kingdom. The main temple was dedicated to the worship of the god Amun, but as in other Egyptian temples, other deities were also worshipped.
Optional balloon ride to see the temples from the air. Cost: 100 dollars
